I'm Excited About the New Additions!

Classic Navy & Rose Garden were delivered today! I am very pleased to say that they are all I could have hoped for.

The navy is very traditional with a little pale silver/grey piping to set it off. Believe me, the photo does not do it justice.

Rose Garden is a beautiful shade of pink with a rose pattern on it. The colours are magnificent for the young and the.. we shall say... sophisticated.

Both are perfect for personal use, and for any gift giving occasion! Which reminds me - I have a bridal shower and 2 weddings to attend this month. All I need is to find out the brides colours and I will be able to choose the right one to stuff with Tupperware! That will be perfect!

I'll be picking out an outfit to set one of them off tomorrow. I'll let you know what I hear on the streets. They are sure to be attention grabbers!

Susie Wall's On-line Flare Magazine Article Features These Baskets!

Naturally I was thrilled, when Susie Wall phoned to say, that her sister had given her a basket and she was so taken with it, that she wanted to feature the baskets in an article in the on-line Flare Magazine!

Her article suggests how great the baskets are for picnics... which of course they are, but don't forget all the other excuses we have to use them!

Check out Susie's article by clicking on the following link:

Thanks Susie!

These Baskets are Definitely Waterproof!

Ok, here is another unfortunate experience I had today, but a good experience to share with you never the less!

I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things, one of which was milk. I placed the 1 litre plastic milk container on the bottom of my Cranberry Garden basket and continued shopping. As I was unloading my basket at the checkout, I found that half of the milk had leaked out of the plastic bottle and into the bottom of my basket! The cashier directed me to a sink where I poured the milk out, and with a few paper towels I mopped up the rest, then packed up my groceries and headed home. Thank goodness the baskets are water proof or surely I would have been wearing the milk! The whole mess was contained, and easily cleaned up. When I got home I rinsed the basket out thoroughly with cold water and left it to dry.

The more I use these baskets, the more I appreciate them!

Do you have an experience you would like to share?

How Do You Clean/Wash the Baskets?

Well, I didn't have any personal experience until last week after I attended the local Farmer's Market.

I tend to be pretty careful with my baskets and other than a few crumbs to tip out, I have had no need to wash any of my (large) collection of baskets. You see, I have all colours and patterns in use, because I like to co-ordinate with what I'm wearing. And besides, I could never pick out just one pattern or colour to be my favourite.

So I purchased some beautiful fresh beets and placed them in my lovely Lime basket. Note here... I did not use a plastic bag. When I got home I discovered that the lovely fresh beets had left a lovely stain on my basket! Oh my!

I rinsed the basket with water and added a little liquid hand soap, that I rubbed in with one of the new Tupperware Microfiber Cloths. To my sheer delight the whole stain came out! I gave my basket a quick rinse and set it out in a shady spot to dry. In a couple of hours you wouldn't have known that it wasn't a new basket. Phew!

Folding Baskets vs Collapsible Baskets

Ok, I admit it... I should refer to them as folding baskets, not collapsible baskets. My husband mentioned that he saw a collapsible basket that collapsed when the user placed it on a table! All of the contents spilled out! So as not to mislead you , I must clarify that these baskets fold for convenience and for packing into a suitcase, but that they are very sturdy and will never let you down!

Collapsible Baskets

This blog was created to show you that there are alternatives to the disposible plastic bag. In Vancouver there is a large movement to "ban the plastic bag", as they have done in Australia and more recently in China. (Join the Facebook group "ban the plastic bag", and show up for the Vancouver City Council meeting Thursday January 31 to show your support). At Capers there was a sign today, that says they will no longer have disposible plastic bags after Earth Day, which is traditionally an April celebration.

There are lots of recycled reuseable bags available, many with a grocery store logo on them, but there are few other alternatives. What about the soft fruits and tomatoes that are easily bruised and squashed in these bags? Really, the best alternative is a basket. And not just any old basket, but a fashionable, collapsible basket!

These baskets come in an assortment of colours and are available in 2 sizes. I think they are well priced and I know they are very durable.

These environmentally friendly baskets are:
  • fashionable
  • lightweight
  • foldable
  • waterproof
  • durable

available in 2 sizes:

Small - 16" x 9" x 8" $22 ea.
Large - 18" x 10" x 9.5" $25 ea.

... or purchase two (one of each size) for $45.

You may mix and match colours and patterns. These nifty urban totes are a fashionable and chic alternative to plastic bags! They are lightweight and easy to fold - perfect for shopping, picnics, work, outings with the kids or pets... and don't forget they are great for carrying or storing your Tupperware too! Their uses are limited only by your imagination! They also make great gifts! Give me a call and pop over to see them!
